The thunder struck again. The strong wind blew, trying to push me
down. My
branches swayed a bit, with some of my bright-green, oblong
leaves followed the wind. But it would never happen anytime soon. I still
stood majestically .I was jubilant that the rain was about to pour down. It had
been so warm lately. But another problem would come in. Eventually, the
rain washes down the soil surface and let the erosion took place. Must be
because the soil had been exposed too much to the sun’s heat. The nutrients were
probably gone too. I was not scared of the friendly nature. But, the other
creatures were not kind to me.
Perhaps they believed that I am strong, demanding
no protection from them. Yes, I was indeed strong yet fragile. Deep
inside my fragile heart, there was also wrath. I wished I could erupt in anger.
Destroying everything just like what they had done to my friends. I wished I
could run away, but my feet are deep rooted into the soil. Those who destroyed
us were blind. Those human who were
blinded with pride, money and greed. Some of my friends in another
neighbourhood are were in a hellish fame. The kingdom next to where I lived was
all engulfed by the fire. I could see that the haze from the forest fire had
formed a blanket, covering that area. Soon, it was going to be my turn. The
decreasing number of my friends alive saddened me the most. No one had ever
come back to apologise. Let alone replant the trees. To replace those who were
gone.
Gone were the days when the butterflies
freely rested on our branches. There was once a teenage boy happily climbed my
bulky body. His friends shouted at him, wanting to join him up there. They were
full of innocence. Such a pristine and pure soul. They were a group of
energetic boys who got lost while accompanying the adults that went hunting. Soon,
they managed to find their way out. Gone were the days when I could see all the
birds flying high in the clear sky. Sometimes they stopped and happily chirped
on my branches. The squirrel families were gathering nuts in the hole of my
brown trunk. They finally left me. Leaving me alone. Yes, still I was surrounded
by other trees. But they were too upset and sad. Too even care to talk to me.
Their leaves turned to yellowish. They looked strong, but they were hurting
inside.
